Hi Bluestar,

Like to know how much is the books fee? Heard that it may cost $3000, is it true?
And what is the average fees for each ECA? Is it compulsory for every pupil to learn a musical instrument?

Thanks a lot!

Fatty,
請問飯盒款式多不多 ? 好不好吃?另請問若在學校推介的書商買書會否便宜?或在街外書店買好些? 那個方案會便宜些.

Assume your kid will be in P1,
and is taking Chinese and Basic French :
Term1, books should cost $1090.x
Term2 book cost should be less.

If you study the booklisk,
Term 1 = buy ALL books for Chin Lang, Gen Studies, Music, Basic Fr or Jap, Phonics.
So for Term 2, only need to buy Chin (words), Maths, Handwriting.

Excercise books = pay at beginning of T1.
Sometimes the school will ask you to buy 1 more book for GS, or TSA exercise books, but each costs under $100.

No average on fees for paid ECA. Depends on the activity, eg $1xx for group musical instruments, $xx for sports ECA classes, $2xx (??) for individual 1:1 musical instruments.

No fees i.e. free, for ECA lesson (last lesson of 1 day per week).

Free training if selected on school teams.

NOT compulsory to learn any 1 or more musical instruments , not compulsory to learn paid ECA activities. [ 本文章最後由 Bluestar 於 08-7-1 23:09 編輯 ]

Hi Bluesky,

Thanks a lot for your details. Yes, my boy will be in P1. But why buy Math books only in Term 2, and no English books to buy except phonics? What is TSA?

I'm Bluestar, Bluesky !! :lol

Nonono, not like that.

You buy Maths books for Term 1 at the beginning of Term1, then at the beginning of Term2 you buy Maths books for Term2.

No need to buy Engl books except phonics, becos your kid will learn from worksheets, no textbook. Engl Exam in Term 1 and Term 2 will be in the form of a "project", covering all the material taught during that term. You will know the format and most of the Q (except for the vvv fine details) before Exam time.
Not difficult, in fact if your kid is already learning Engl in K3 then it will be v easy to him.
Engl lessons during P1 = v similar to 活動教學 in style.

TSA = the public exams taken at the end of P3 and P6.

I think whoever told you that cost of textbooks ~$3000 per year must be P3 : texttbooks for P3 in Term 1 costs ~$15xx, so if you times 2 it will be ~$3000 by claculation. [ 本文章最後由 Bluestar 於 08-7-2 11:44 編輯 ]

Dear BLUESTAR,

Luckily star is hanging on the sky, :wahaha: so it wasn't too big a mistake. Many thanks for your info anyway.

About French/Japanese, what does your kid take? Can you give me any hints to make a choice?

Thanks.

My kid takes basic french.
Some kids like Jap cartoons a lot, and would be more interested in Jap culture ==> take Basic Jap.

But in our case, I told my son that when and if we go on a tour to Europe, incl France, I will need his help in reading the road signs, info, etc. :lol Another reason was, my father hated the Japs for their invasion into China during WWII. :weapon: :weapon: :weapon: [ 本文章最後由 Bluestar 於 08-7-2 19:04 編輯 ]
