yanni-ma / bonme,

You are welcome. Don't worry, at least there are more than 700 parents are on the same boat. My daughter was from ordinary Kindergarten, she also can handle Eng - Math. I think it will be difficult to use English in the lesson to explain Math, so the teacher will use more Cantonese to explain. But the student seems OK to read the books and answer the questions. Sometimes, I guess the problem may not mainly on the student, personally I think some teachers may have problem in using English to teach Math, particularly in higher level.

Anyway, welcome you to join the Pooi Kei family. Even the priinicpal change, most of the teachers are very stable and I trust the English level of this school should be one of the top one in Shatin district.

Bonme,
Good morning:wave: ! How are you today? My son is sick during the lession today:cry: , he vomits in classroom and my maid goes there to bring him home. May be he ate too much on his birthday+father's day :-) . He missed the time of checking the exam paper and knowing of the result. Actually, if his performance is ok, I don't want to review his exam paper during the checking period of school. Have you go to school to review you daughter's exam paper last halfly exam?

martifma,

Yanni-ma,

Hope your son will recover soon. Which class is your son studing? Most of the classmates in my daughter's class are come from HK pre-school, they got good results in exam last time and this time. My daughter is above average only even most of the subjects got over 90. I have checked her exam paper last exam and most likely I will not check this time as her performance is ok and I will have final decision as the Chi and Eng paper are not yet announced today.

Today, I received the booklist and all the P1 will have Putonghua - Chinese Lang. and Eng- Math. I also still have a younger boy and he will be K1 this year. That means our younger may be classmate and in the same form again.

Are you living near the school? Is your son also graduated from HK preschool?

bonme,
My son was not graduated from HK-preschool before, therefore I didn't apply for the Putonghua class for him in J1. I'm affraid he didn't understand. But now he got very good result in Putonghua . He is studying in I Honesty. According to my son, the class discipline seems not so good. Some of the boys are very naughty. However, those naughty boys are very good in certain subjects.
Last week his Class teacher told him his Eng got over 90 marks (but not exactly know the mark). He is quiet stable in Maths also and gets a satifactory marks. But the Chineses...... :verycold:, he is improving now. He got around 80+ marks.

As you stated that your daughter got over 90 mark but just above average only. I'm not suprised that because I know HK-preschool is very emphasis on reading and language development. It adopts bilingual teaching method. Oral and Putonghua are also very good.

I live near to school. But I plan to move to Ma On Shan later, may be next summer..... How about U? Where do you live? IS your younger son studing in HK preschool the coming Sept?

From your message, next J1 will study the Eng-Maths, that is a very good news!:pint: :pint: :pint:

I'm so glad to hearing from you that our younger kids be classmate and in the same form few years later! :-)

Yanni-ma,

Chin Lang is not easy, it is very good even got 80 marks. The ratio of boy vs girl are high in 1 honesty and I also heard that some boys are very naughty. But the class teacher is very good. I think the school will rearrange in P3 as I know P2 will not change a lot to let them adapt to the school environment.

I live far away in Tai Po. Before my daughter joined this school, I also thinking of moving to Fo tan. As my daughter has adapted to the travel distance, most likely I will stay in Tai Po as my mother is living here. If you move to Ma On Shan, your son need to get up earlier in P3.

Don't worry and please believe the teachers and your children, they can well educate the children and the children can adapt the environment as well.
