The following is for your information.
My son studied in Pooi Kei from P.1 to P.4. By the end of the 2nd term of 06/07, we discovered that there were quite severe bully cases happening on my son in Pooi Kei while he was studying in P.3 and P.4. Since then, we communicated and met the social worker and my son’s class teacher several times to know more about my son’s behaviour and the said bully cases in Pooi Kei. After we clearly understood those bully cases, the relationship between my son and his classmates and psychological feelings of son towards teachers and his classmates, we thought that the situation was really very bad and we don’t think my son would have undisturbed (not talking about happy) school life in P.5 and P.6 at Pooi Kei. In summer of 07, we decided to change the school for him and now he is studying in another school.
I have the following observations / feelings of the bully cases.
1. Seems that in general, PK teachers didn't alert the bully cases well. Maybe they don't know those cases are bully. In fact, my son had reported the bully cases several times to teachers but seems that they didn't addressed properly. (Those bully cases on my son were assessed by a clinical psychologist and she classified the bully as 'quite severe') But to be fair, some PK teachers are very nice and caring.
2. One class teacher never reported any fighting cases and severe quarel cases (at least three fighting cases in one academic yr) between my son and his classmates to us.
3. Many times, while my son quarreled and fought with his classmates, we learned that teachers were used to ask them to stop but seldom to investigate what were the root causes of the frequent quarrels and the fighting between my son and a particular group of students.
4. Seems to me that caring and bully eductaion in PK is inadequate.
I hope through this message to alert you about the possible campus bully in PK and suggest you to pay more time to understand the campus life of your kids as well as take more initiative to contact teachers and social workers in order to know more about your kids' situations in PK. We really don't want to see someone else in PK becoming another bully victim.

| 我的兒子(now p2)也曾向我投訴過，曾經 1 次（p.1時）被不認識的高年級同學於他小便時推他撞向尿兜，弄髒了校服，並且他說常有一些高年級同學專門欺負一年級新生。 不過正面地看，我估老師缺乏經驗處理是因為這些事件在這所小學發生的案例不多，試想想如果是 band 3的中學，日日對住ｄ攪事學生，老師還怎會缺乏經驗呢？ 然而，我都希望學校能正視這問題，老師也能提高他們的 Alert 及處理手法（如在早會或學生週會加強訓導的提點，以加強阻嚇作用），並教導學生如何面對這些情況。 |
