城大與浸大、港大、嶺大、科大和理大均在「國際生」指標中取得「100分」滿分。惟對比教資會目前披露的上學年收生數字，八大取錄的第一年學士學位非本地生，原居地仍以內地為主，個別大學完全沒有取錄歐美學生。

以指標滿分、排名全亞洲第10的浸大為例，多達83.3%屬內地生，13.3%來自亞洲其他地區。同樣滿分但排名較後的科大，反而收生維持內地生和非內地生各佔約一半，53.9%學生來自內地；指標排名29位、獲99.8分的中大，71.2%屬內地生，亦少於浸大。
