Hei Ching's mom

For your case, I think Miss Cheng's advice is also valid. I do know that quite some kids had applied some schools & did attend interview.

Definitely most of them were nervous. Davin was okay. He did answer all questions but a bit passive. I guess there's room for improvement for every kid.

Hei Ching mom,
Don't worry, there is still time for the kids to get used to the interview and practice. Hei Ching is definietly not the worst one, cos I saw one girl (don't mention name) that she did not say a word throughout the whole interview and her mom cried. I guess don't put too much pressure on yourself so the kids has less pressure too. Trying other school interviews is a good way to practise. Preston did go for one interview and he thinks it's fun to go for interview (very positive experience from that interview, got a little gift from the school after interview). Preston also answered all the questions but not very detail and did not elaborate by himself. I guess all kids still have room and time for more improvement.

Hi ljsze & Lydia,

Thanks for your kind words. However, to my understanding, provided the answers have been rated "1". The other ratings mean the kids' reply / performance still need improvement. I will practise more with my girl at home and hope she can perform well next time.

P.S.: Lydia, I know the girl that you are talking about. The teachers have arranged another chance for her after talked with her mother. Finally, she had tried and answered a few questions with simple answers when her mother was allowed to go inside the classroom. Anyway, there are full of "worry" parents.

HeiChingmom,
Actually, this mock interview is a good way for us to know more about how how kids perform, although familiar environment but new faces. So don't worry about the rating too much, even they got a '1' don't mean a lot. Preston also got '1' but to me the answer is much too simple. So we and the school can both help them more within these few months. Although it all depends on their mood that day and a lot of different issues.

Lydia, Hei Ching's mom

Don't worry. We are lucky that the school arranged such mock interview at this early stage & we could observe our kid's performance. Miss Cheng said that the school would do more in September.

Btw, at that day I did observe that quite some parents were even more 'nervous' than their kids.

ljsze,
I'm also glad that the school arrange this interview and many other preparation work for the kids. I can understand some parents are quite nervous, I would be nervous if my kid did not speak a word during the whole time. Anyway, our emotion strongly affect our kids' performance, so we must try to relax so our kids can relax and enjoy the interview.
BTW, why did you and Davin leave so early after the interview, Davin had a class? The kids played so happily at the classroom that day.

Lydia

I fully agree with you that we should also take it easy.

Davin didn't had a class that day but I just noticed that there were not many classmates & so we left. Davin just played for a while in the play area.

Dear moms,
Have you prepared the profolio? I just attended a talk tonight organised by the interview class Preston is taking. The teachers said the profolio is getting less and less important. Her tips are simple and clear, able to demonstrate the info you want to show and that's enough. I'm still struggling how to do it.:badfeel:

Lydia

Not yet. Yet, I do think the tip that you mentioned is valid. Try not to put too much info but the most impt ones.

Can't believe this week is the last week of K2, one more year to go. The school fee is getting quite expensive now, $5600 for whole day class. :pity:
