My daughter started in HKPS since playgroup. Once I wanted her to go to St.Catherine instead (because of the reputation). However, after seeing the campus there and number of students per school year, I changed my mind right away. Except that St. Catherine is located in KT and has been opened since 197x... I don't see other benefit that the school can provide to my daughter. On the other hand, the teachers and aunties in HKPS are so nice and caring. Also, the school provides a lot of activities and extra curriculum to their students (of course, some of them you have to pay for). Plus, it is still closer to our home (Ma On Shan).
There isn't too much homework. In upper class, normally there is only 1 per day, except on Friday, there are about 3. I doubt there is that much for lower classes.
I don't think there is any test week in HKPS, at least didn't happen in our Nursery and Lower classes. Not yet know about Upper class.
