It was very disappointed to find out that the school only encourage students to memorise the words
without the ability to recognise the actual Chinese words, may be
that's my misunderstanding of Rightmind's teaching as I always praise
about the school and tell my friends and relatives that I cannot
believe that Rightmind can teach the students to recognise so many
Chinese words and my son can read and recognise all Dizhigui and
Zhonghuazijing that was taught at school ( and only found out that the
school didnt teach in a way to enable the students to recognise the
words but only to memorise the passage with no meaning to them ) - I
always thought it was really amazing that a 2.5 years old baby can
recognise so many Chinese words and he can even recognise and read the
words when they appear in different story book。If the school is only
trying to stuff as many passage into the brain of the kids with no
ability to recognise and understand the words, then i really doubt
that's a useful way of teaching ( how many passages that you try to
memorise when you were young that you can still remember now?)

Believe me that the situation will be much better when your child progresses to K1. He/She will have a much higher understanding of the English or Chinese words. At the stage of the pn class, it is more important for the child to adapt to the English and Putonghua speaking environment and to communicate with the teachers in English or Putonghua.

I agree with this, I believe in RMKG's teaching principles and their methods, I'm more than happy with the progress of my daughter just in a couple of months time :good:

After years, I can say that the impression is not true. I didn't revise for my kid and she is able to read 80% gapsk advanced level exam materials (all the booklet as I didn't know the exam is restricted to part of the book) at her k2 summer break. She did score highest in this exam after we causally took her to read the materials to us and we tried to correct a bit. I believe the credit is 90% on Rightmind. As to English, she could read lots of story books and able to describe why she was laughing and what is the story about. Again, we don't do revision for her. Whenever she doesn't know, it's my kid approached us to ask. For English, 80% credit to Rightmind, 10% to her daily chic chat with her helper ...
