Every local student could attend a local school offering the local curriculum and then could sit DSE. But IB schools are all academically selective, which is true not only locally but worldwide. This is analogous to the difference in GCSE/A level results between independent schools and state schools in the UK.

IB 40+ worldwide2020: 9701 out of 174360 = 5.56%2021: 15513 out of 170660 = 9.09%


No one would deny that IB had an abnormal grade inflation in 2021, but unless you believe that the inflation would remain, the figures in 2021 would be of little interest to students in coming years.

It may be inspiring to note that in the book Freakonomics, the authors (one of who is a professor in U of Chicago) found statistically that children's academic performance appeared to be less influenced by "what the parents do", and more influenced by "who the parents are" as people.

The simple answer is NO. Universities in HK has to show others the examination scores of their admitted DSE candidates. Many professors are under pressure to produce good results to their administrators. The simple solution to solve this problem is to admit less DSE students and then fill up the vacancy by admitting non-JUPAS students. This is what HKU Medicine has been doing in the past few years to maintain a high examination score of their successful applicants via JUPAS. Thereby, they have to admit a very high percentage of non JUPAS applicants, quite contrary to what they have promised years ago. IB has the trick that there are different levels of examination: first and second language, standard and higher levels. Practically speaking, just knowing the total score without knowing the choice of standard vs high level and first vs second language is not very meaningful.

真係唔可以單睇IB分數，就話爭晒DSE 學生入醫科啲位。

IB六科要修讀，三科可選Standard Level （基本程度） ，另外三科可選Higher level （高級程度），簡單黎講， 三個易， 三個難。每科分數最高為7 分， 所以Level 7 即係我地以前講嘅 Grade A。IB 一定要有兩科語文，四科術科。

見到有啲奇怪，莫非考DSE只係需要2-3月先開始準備，IB就需要長時間去衝刺，難度就比DSE高好多。考制唔同，DSE學生咪不少S5學期一開始就備戰，晚晚2-3點都大把DSE學生伴讀，IB學生係晚上並不孤單㗎～～～:wahaha:

响香港係吾可以直接比較DSE同IB， 因為DSE係係人都要讀，包括讀吾到書嗰班，亦包括以前舊制下會考後已經要出黎做野，升吾上A level嗰班； 响香港謮ib, 本身已經吾係基層家庭學生，最重要係，可以攞到超高分既SPCC, DBS，佢地係揀過，勁既學生先可考ib。所以純以數字比較，會以為ib容易攞高分。

幾十年前，未聽過咩係IB既年代，人人考會考，十萬個會考生，都出唔到20個狀元。
你講得冇錯，客觀數據一對比，IB易攞高grade，是十分明顯既事實。
幾年前呢道都有討論過， IB水份高不嬲都係，今年就高到離曬譜。

除非你認為SPCC前列學生自己全揀IB，或者學校一定要佢揀IB。否則，例如，前列頭40位同學，30個選IB，10個選DSE，2年後睇吓佢哋成為狀元嘅百分比係如何，咁都比唔到？～～～:wahaha: 假設，例如今年量寛第一波，30個中有15個成為IB狀元，DSE應該出到5個狀元～～～:kekeke:
