20101101 For your question, I try to answer in two perspectives: 1. 2013 onward, no more A1, A2 & B. Will be A and B, A will be divided into two streams, Literature and Language & Literature. L and L&L have similar standing with different focus. 2. In 2012, still have A1 and A2. University will consider IB scores first, then may further review the A1 vs A2 and also HL vs SL. My following guess based on my limited info as 2012 is not my major focus. HKU, MBBS accepted A1 and A2 in English, HL min 4, SL min 5. Chinese can be waived with IBDP qualification. LLB may prefer both A1 and HL. BBA prefer A1 English with HL. May be other parents can verify my guess in part 2. ANChan59 |

I think is Group 1: Language A (Lit), Language A (Lang & Lit), Language A (Lit & Performance) Group 2: Language ab, Language B So Group 1 only have Language A, Group 2 only Language ab or B |

I think so , it is from IBO: Group 1 consists of three courses: language A: literature; language A: language and literature and literature and performance (an interdisciplinary subject). But Lit and performance may not be available in our school. |

kym & Annie123 Thanks for your further clarification. We discussed at home about Chinese Language a couple months ago. If my son really want to study medicine, he should take Chinese B instead of A. The grade point diffeence can be 1-2 point difference. But he may take Business and or Law as well, he better keeps Language A at SL.... not an easy choice.... ANChan59 |
