| 大家都有點兒擔心, 相信是因為身為香港人的我們, 明白小朋友如果要在香港的教育制度下生存, 在學業上, 目標是考入香港的大學的話, 有些基本功是不可忽視的. 宏信在interivew時, 也會選擇一些已有不錯能力的學生, 而我相信大部份的家長, 一定給予小朋友不少的額外照顧及課程, 小朋友才可以用英語及普通話(面試的要求)對答如流, 但入學後, 小朋友所學的反而有點不及一般學校的進度, 心裏當然忐忑不安. 我在這兒見到不少家長有不同的憂慮, 令我這位明年year 1的家長也心急起來. 我並不是一位被動的人, 已向校方提出見面, 相信在假期後可作一次詳談. 傾談後, 再跟大家分享吧! |

| "Learning to learn" is the key point to success. I got the point now. Before I voice out my worries to LA, I've browsed all the comments on BK on LA and compared my child's learning with those in traditional schools in HK. But after discussing with Ms. HO and one of my friends who opted to let her child to study in an IB school, I've finally got the point. Yes, if our children have learnt how to learn, they'll succeed in every examiniation system. That's what LA is striving for. Let's relax more, parents. I'm now convinced that we're on the right track (i.e. the syllabus & learning mission set by LA). Also, I suggest those with questions can write to school for asking or group together to date them for a discussion. If we raise too many personal questions to them at the same time, we may distract them too much for normal school running, aren't we? Each child has their own way to go. We, as parents, should avoid "controlling" them too much. They're not only learning, but learning well in LA in fact. I really thank God that He has given this school for us. Before I recognize how good it is, He has already chosen it for us. God's love & provision is really amazing. That's only what I can say now. P.S. I've received a set of worksheets, which are of excellent quality, as Christmas homework today. I find myself maybe too nervous before. LA has set their own path & pace in doing things. | For the potential Yr. 1 student's parents -- please wait for the school to arrange seminars for new students. They will arrange for that. Also, I think you may need to spare some time to get a feel of what IB is. IB is really different from local education system. In fact, I am glad to see my daugher's improvement in language pronunication skill. Though she still can't spell much words, she can read books (Longman Level 3/4 story books). This really paved a good start in her language learning...... For Putonghua, the teacher will let them learn all the abilities, including reading, writing, speaking and with dictation as well. So, don't worry. "Love bears all things & believes all things"....... let's try to have more patience and throughout the process, we may need to learn to drop down some of our "traditional" thought. It's because if we don't drop a thing down, we can't pick another thing up....... I personally think that trying to "push" the kid or the school for this & that is no good. The traditional thing we think that is "good" may not necessarily be "the only good". LA has set their own path for teaching....... if we decide to place our children here, we have to learn more about IB system with a humble heart and be more "open-minded" ...... Of course, I'm not trying to urge you stop dating the school. It's just a friendly reminder only. |
