Thanks again. My kid did enjoy reading them (I mean NG-WOL). BTW, I would like to seek your recommendations for Chinese books. My kid, as always, prefers English books more than the Chinese ones (a common phenomenon in CKY ?) Of course, I reckon one of the reasons behind is the choice and quality of Chinese books is not as good as English because of the popularity of the language itself. Anyway, any advices?

How old is your kid?
It's difficult for me to find an interesting set of Chinese books for my kids as well.

Probably you may take a look at the lately published set of "字 詞 樂 園" from commercial press.

Thanks yeenmama. My kid is in Year 2. I have already brought the series of books from Commercial Press that you recommended. And, she has finished them. (Her reading speed is high provided the books are interesting. The only one thing is she is willing to read it for second or even third time if it is really appealing to her. I think for the first time, she's just in a hurry, rushing to see the end of the story. It is by the second time that she really appreciate the details of the book.) Is there any other suggestion?

BTW, her Chinese writing is however not that good. She do know a lot of vocabulary but has problem is writing them out. Since the kinder that she studies is kind of promoting happy learners and do not encourage writing/dictation. Hence, she is just a little bit than an illiterate (in Chinese) before she join CKY. Is dictation (say, ten words in a week) a suggested way of helping her? Will it jeopardize her interest in Chinese?

Some of the books are really funny (esp. 笨狼的故事) in this series of book. My son can't stop laughing when he read the story. Each book is made up of 3-4 short stories. You may check out from the public library.

As I heard CKY is strong on language, e.g. English & Mandarin (after P2). Do you think your child can speak fluent English & Mandarin after studying this school ?

首先,我不希望錯誤賦予家長錯覺-入到某某學校等於學生的成績或語文一定會好。因為學校祇可提供一個比較容易培育語文的地方,若果孩子不努力、家長不付出,學生的語文能力都可能是不過爾爾。

綜觀蔡繼有的制度及資源都較著重培育語文,如所有英語教師都是NET,及上課有嚴格規定說指定語言,再者以活動教學上課,容易培養學生發問精神。在聽得多、講得多的環境下,故較容易掌握及學習語言。

小兒上學至今三個多月,英語能力就明顯更有信心,對於本人而言是滿意的。至於中文如何,以前是非常抗拒,現在是小小抗拒,希望在每天閱讀圖書之下,會繼續進步。普通話,仍處於香港人初學普通話階段,聽唔明、又亂講,真係好好笑。希望明天會更好!
