Hello,

we are preparing our son for coming CKY interview. Can anyone tell us about the format last year? Thanks a lot.

I did heard that teachers may recommend some students to participate, but not sure if they will turn down any students who are interested but not recommended.

Do you mean you requested for the form but they didn't "select" your son? Better to contact the teacher to clarify! Don't let your boy be upset because of any misunderstanding!

But my boy said his teacher only gave the application forms to the selected students. He is quite upset about this.

這個嘛．．．其實不需家長操心，又或者不到家長操心的，因為在入學前，學校會舉行音樂營，讓孩子認識及接觸不同的樂器，然後由孩子決定學習哪種樂器。至於運氣的問題，到真正學習的時候，老師就會教授如何運氣啦！

最重要是，孩子喜歡哪種樂器。

小兒選擇了單簧管。聽老師說，這種樂器算是易學的了。但每每到某些階段，梯級就會較大，孩子會容易失去信心，所以要不斷鼓勵才可過渡。

yeah, my son changed fm percussion to clarinet after music orientation. I just let him to choose freely after explaining to him that its not allowed to be changed again easily since its a long project. He has agreed and passed the simple test by the teacher on the 2nd day of music orientation. Now, he practises for 45 mins everyday as he intends to get the gold medal at the end of school year. I feel amazing as he is quite serious when holding the "long" clarinet. Sometimes, he said that he is very tired and I just encourage and support him by his side.

I did explain to my boy that the reason why the teacher didn't choose him. He learnt percussion at school and they didn't spend so much time on xylophone, so it is difficult for him to take part in Music Festival. For other instruments, because he is studying with the teacher who is not belongs to CKY, that's why he can't represent the school to take place.

He is ok now. I told him that we can still take part in the Music Festival by his teacher.
