I have the same feeling about the english teacher. I thought maybe I am too sensitive since I lived overseas for a long time and my daughter speaks English most of the time.

Since I can teach my daughter English at home, I think it should be ok... but I am more concerned about her Chinese. She can understand some, but she does not speak it. :-?

I have the same feeling toward the English language ability. I met a mother at a bookstore. Her son is attending Victoria Kindergarten and talked in good English. She does has the reservation on Sacred Heart especially on the English language skill training, and the more rigid demand. When she compared another child studying at Sacred Heart to her son in the same level, her son's English and Putongua are way better than the SH girl! That really worries me, a lot. I know, I know, I know. I can always send my daughter to ESF. American International or go back to Singapore or the US for better language training but I like Sacred Heart for her care. Just to echo my concern. I guess I need to use the wait and see approach to see how it works.

My daughter attended Victoria Pre-Nursery last term. And I've talked with the Eng. teacher about this. The teacher said as they are Bilingual KG, they have English teacher with the class everyday, which is different from other schools. So to keep up with Eng standard, she suggest me to use Eng to communicate with my child.

So I guess if I want to upkeep my daughter's Eng level, more efforts should be added by me.

I'm still worried about the homework, newspaper cutting, form-filling e.t.c., cos' I'm such a forgetful person. Just wish me and my girl good luck.:hammer: :hammer:

Children would not remember the language if not used frequently enough. I have to talk to my elder daughter in English now rather than in Cantonese because of her US and ESF education. Now, my younger daughter had already forgotten to speak in Putongua, the childhood language because of the Cantonese education in her pre-Nursery class. I hope the putongua sessions in SH will enhance her memory of it.

We as the parents are really at lost. The mother tongue Cantonese is so restrictive to Hong Kong, part of Guangzhou and Chinatowns. Singapore is way ahead of Hong Kong in this aspect, training its citizens in good English and Putonghua. Although they sound funny but their gramma are very good.

So far, I keep all my options open and keep a wait and see position. If I cannot find a good school for my daughter, I may have to choose any place. Speaking, reading and writing English and Putonghua is extremely important for my child.

I am glad to hear that I am not the only one who use English most of the time. I lived in Australia for a long time and that's why I tend to talk in English. I am not so used to the Hong Kong education system.

I would like to meet with parents who speaks English. Are your children in AM or PM class?

chan_wingyee ,
u can put all notices in a file and u check up every day...hhaa...u will get many many notice back when the school term start.....dont worry....we also like this last yr and all bk mami will post out what things need to bring tmr. one more tips, i must take the notice back next school day so that i will not forget it( same as u...i always forget things ga!!)

After the bb learn more in SH, teachers will ask them to bring sth to school without notice. So u can talk with bb everyday and ask them any things need to bring...but dont worry...not important things...just toys or things about the topic teaching ga jar~~

book report: bb will go to school library to borrow book every friday. after reading they can draw a picture about the book and parents can write few words about the book or the picture....easy ar~~

only 1 homework every day....no need to write words...easy...only spend few minutes ga jar~ [ 本文章最後由 5354 於 07-8-29 12:19 編輯 ]

Don't worry. It may be the same problem for every moms, especially working moms. We can help each other by sharing info on BK or over the phone.

Take it easy - just let us kids enjoy their happy and wonderful school life. Do believe SH is a good kinder (that's why you chose it - Right!!) :hammer: :hammer:
