We live in Kln side, it rather save a lot in $$ and time to study at CKY than the previous school, you know, the bus fee is $1300 before if I did not remember wrong. But there is another thread here saying there is school bus from HK to school this year, so please go to check out. Actually no ECA will be arranged after school. ECA is arranged on every Sat between 9-1 (depends which activities you select). The musical instrument learning is taken during the music lesson, not part of ECA. For ECA on sat, they provide limited routes running from some MTR stations to school. you will be charged for extra cost (not much).

Well, since the first formal assessment is coming next week, I don't know if they will distribut a report to us. but the teacher will let you know if your kid need specific attention in which subject (if she needs) And i know they will arrange some remedial class study for student who is weak in some subject to before the assessment. Also you may know your kid's english level by seeing which level of books she is reading. The standard varies a lot, some still reading level 7 or 8 (total 23 levels) but some already reading Chapter book.
Regarding whether they speak in English/PTH during the short recess (15mins) and long recess (45 mins), I would say some still speak in Cantonese. But most of the games they played during recess are in English (taught by the teacher). Other than that, they were given A LOT of opportunities to speak up in class in English / PTH. This is what I saw during the class observation arranged by school twice a year.

Lui,

Got your PM. Really appreciate your sharing.
May I ask if you live in HK side? How's the school bus schedule for you? I heard that there is no school bus service if you stay behind for ECA. ...

Assessment for P2 insert student.
Eng(3 pages): There is a passage, make up the remaining story by yourself. Others I can't remember, but should be quite simple.
Maths (in Eng): Generally those taught in P1, no shapes (say hexagon, .....) No practical problem 文字題
Chinese (3 pages): A comprehension, some fill in the blanks.

My girl completed all in 1 hour, but you are given 1.5 hrs.

For interview with the two principals, one speak in Cantonese (mrs Lau) and English (mr yip). Two in one group. Be prepared to show something you have learnt special during Primary one which is worth to tell.
My girl read a PTH poetry. the boy next to her read the times table!

Dear lui

Thanks for sharing. (sigh)... It seems not that easy to my boy who just reaches 5 yrs old and study in IS P1). The kid has to know many words for writing a story. For Chinese test, does it require local school P1 standard? It has a big different from IS standard.

Thanks

dont be too panic, they provide around 3 rows to make up the story, and not a big paragraph.
I think the way they asked in Chinese is quite simple, compare to local school chinese for P.1, but i am not sure what the standard up to for a IS P.1. No worry, give it a try if you really interested in.

The competition last year is quite keen. For the intake of P.2, there is around 60 (local applicants) and unknown (overseas applicants). The place should be around 5-8 at most. This is what the teacher told me during interview.

other than school fee, bus fee, annual musical instrument practice fee, ECA fee (if you choose, but very minimal), some misc fee (sometimes being charge through autopay but should be minimal around 200-300).

You can write to the teacher and they are willing to call you back. The circulars distributed are informative.

My girl takes the rope skipping class only on Sat. There are not many activities to be selected as compare to previous year according to some old student 's parent. She goes to 主日學 on Sat and Girl Guide on Sun. I think that is enough for her.
