If you plan to switch your to tradition primary school, you should keep him to learn more Chinese. My son switch to IS since K2. At first, he wonder why he had no homework to do. He even complaint to his father why he had no homework from school. Now he enjoys his school life very. Compare with my friend's son, he has to write many Chinese word as homework. |

Once get into international, the kid will not able to go back local school. it will be very hard and difficult for him/ her. ICS Primary have chinese teaching. I don't think so. Now in fact more local schools accept students from international kinder as their English is better. I know some friends have kids studying in international kinders (YMCA, ESF, Yew Chung, Think etc) and then get accepted by PLK CKY, TSL, Maryknoll ... |

In an international school setting, the children are so happy, I can't believe my daughter can get back to the relative boring setting of many (if not all) local schools. Agree with Darth. Basically most kinders (local or international) offer happy school lives, and they need to adapt to different settings in primary schools anyway, local or IS depending on the parents' wishes. |

yes, cherylmum...I think the transitional time may be harsh for the child...and I cannot make up my mind yet..and most important is I need to observe more about my son personality, it may help me to make the decision... |

I cannot be so sure though. My daughter is now in ESF P1. She is very used to the casual and happy class setting in her class. On the other hand, she hates the after-school Mandarin lessons which are similar to a local school setting and refuses to attend such lessons anymore. I can't say this is impossible to switch from an international kinder to a local school (I knew a friend who has done so), but just that the kids might have a difficult transitional period. I don't want to take that risk.
