csk, kc2733,

:-? :-? :-? :-?

Dear Ying Wa parentes,

I found the following message on Ying Wa pages:

本校招收 2003-2004年度小一至小五插班生
派發及交還申請表格日期
1/12 - 10/12
申請表格可到本校索取或網上下載

Anyone tell me what's going on? Can they accept P.1 插班生 at this moment?

ambrose:

英華小學現正招收今年"下學期"的插班生。小一至小三將會一條龍上英華書院;小四至小五不是行一條龍的,只會案照傳統的政府升中派位安排升中。

Sorry, I mean the school cannot accept P.1 at this moment. It should be unfreezed after central allocation.

In addition, the total position for coming P.1 should be 160 for 5 classes. Does it mean there may have have more than 32 students per class if they accept 插班?

公開招收小一至小五下學期插班生?好像並不常見,是因為增加了學額,抑或是有人退學?知不知道收多少人呢?

Dear all parents

Please see whether the message can make you relieve a bit.

I called the school today and understood from Mr Kwong (our Acting Principal) that they are going to handle the applications from their waiting list (which is over a hundred applicants) in an open and fair way, that's why they posted the recruitment notice so that all those interested can apply too.

This action tends to increase a limited amount of places currently in each class of each grade instead of filling up of great withdrawals. The 2004 P.1 does not fall into this recruitment scheme.

This is not incommon in government aided schools. As far as I know, like La Salle, they will recruit normally (although not openly) in each April. Just only because it is La Salle, if parents could find the similar recruitment notice, I think they would be more than happy rather than criticise or worrying it. So?

Coming back, Vice Principal Mr Kowng said that our school will screen and pick out only those with excellent performance in academic, discipline and extra-curriculum activities. Taking this chance to absorb more smart boys (or girls for P.4 up) so as to further upgrade our school standards.

It is not difficult to understand that parents will guess and are worried something has gone wrong. Let's not talk about P.1 to P.3; let us try to think the chance of withdrawals in P.4 to P.6 which are from the ex-school. Will there be possible that many boys and girls have gone? Having considering these, we may have a more objective response towards this recruitment.

I do think Ying Wa Primary School is an 'open-minded' school, anytime we have worries, we can find answers direct from the school instead of being affected by avoidable anxiety.

There is a proverb to share:
'Before asking how much one can take from others, ask how much one can contribute/give.'

Building up a new and famous school is a hard task, that relies quite much on parents' contribution on family education and faith towards school. Without support without success. There is still much hardtime ahead, shall we work hard and make the harvest day come soon?

cheers

H&SMOM,

Thank you for your information. I am not familar with the school administration since my boy admitt on next year.I do not worry about the academic standard since I think it is one of the way to "Dilute" the effect of central allocation.

However I worry about the number of pupils. I think 32 is an ideal figure. If the school accept more than 35, I think the teaching quality will be impacted.
