昨日放工返到去, 亨亨巳完成功課, 雖然都係寫得唔太工整, 由得佢今早照交了.

昨晚, 佢主動話要練個 “A”字, 可能班主任在課堂上講過返屋企要多練習, 佢真係在白紙上練寫. 當時我同老公工人食緊飯, 以為佢好乖坐定定, 給啖安樂茶飯我地食喇 :-) . 點知佢做完張紙, 無野好玩, 竟然拎支鉛筆劃梳化:chair: (布藝質料, 仲係白色架). 我地見到巳太遲, 當然即時制止, 佢仲好輕鬆答 : “可以用擦膠擦就得架” (真係唔套用呢句 simple & naive 都唔得:hammer: ) 唉………. 梗係唔得喇, 在佢面前做先知自己衰, 於是就被爸爸訓話一輪:ranting: . 好彩, 我地將要換梳化, 如果唔係都幾傷!!! 我記得以前細個都曾劃過牆, 又係被爸爸媽媽鬧到飛起, 係唔係每個細路都必經呢?!! 8-)

Trevor 跌 lollipop 事件, 工人都有同我講. 佢話事發後, Trevor 望住姐姐邊哭邊抱怨講: "is you (your fault)!!" is you!!" 姐姐就好無奈:cry: , 但都解釋係 Trevor 自己唔小心跌既囉.

I don't think that 小朋友返左KV之後d英文好似差左o甘. Don't you notice that your child speaks in sentences in English? The English pronunciation of my daughter is very nice. Some foreign teachers have heavy accents which I don't really like. I believe that KV provides a very good language foundation to students. Phonics? How important is that? The school has its way to teach students, don't worry.

don't think that you made a wrong decision for Ashley. In no doubt, Kenvtille is a perfect school to me, not only in education but all rounded. I do agree that Kenvtille is not good in teaching English especially in pronuncation and no phonics. But if only for that reasons it may not worthwhile to do so. Why don't you consider to apply other supplementary courses for her?

Hi, I'm a new member of bk although I've been reading this site for quite some time. My son is in K1F, now in Strawberry group. Thanks for all your sharing as my son seldom talks about his affairs at school.

Do you notice that KV has good English standard right from the top (i.e. the School Principal)? All notices to parents are well written. I recall my school selection process back in last year. There were occasions where I gave up an offer simply because their notices were filled with grammatical / careless mistakes.

我同意你講phonics果part, 因KV 課程係無 phonics, 但我唔覺英文差了. 如果你有留意, 學校教的英文都係注重文化, e.g. an apple, an egg, a book, a car, a dog, a glass of water, a cup of jelly .......
另外以 oral 及 listening, 我囝係無問題, 可能佢同賓賓溝通, 一定要講英文, 好多野都表達到. 平日賓賓主力同佢睇英文書, 佢都學到好多生字, 我只要求佢夠膽講, 賓姐都train 到佢呢樣野.

KV 一早係標榜中文數學同 discipline 較強的學校, 你有無發覺小朋友在短短幾個月內, 佢地學識40多個中文生字唔單止, 呢兩個星期同佢玩, 發覺囝囝識將生字配在一起成詞語, 如牛奶, 豬肉, 中秋, 小鳥 , 手腳.........多了唔同變化的詞語 , 將有意思的字連在一起. 至少進度唔錯呢!:-D 另外, 基本數學, K1 大致同其他學校差唔多, 要去到K2-K3先會見到KV功力 (呢d都係其他小朋友曾讀過KV家長講), 佢地教小朋友數係好得, 程度係深過其他kinder, 上小學時應付比較自如.

其實, 轉校與否, 應看學校整體教學配唔配合你自己要求,如果單以phonics 呢個issue 而轉校, 我個人想法都如其他家長看法一樣, 倒不如找個course 俾小朋友學去補不足. 不過, 你是有權為小朋友找更適合的學校, 因最清楚小朋友發展的係你. 希望你考慮清楚, 才幫ashley決定呢! ;-)

I'm totally agree. Trevor's Chinese is better than before, but English is...... I try to encourage him to speak more at home, but I will not change kinder for him. Actually, learning of better Chinese is difficult than English. I prefer on day training rather than just 3 hrs lesson in School. Therefore, St. Cat's K2 class only have Native English teacher in English class, other lessons (e.g. Maths, 常識) don't have. Finally, It may be 1 hr per day. This point you should bear in mind too. Why don't you try to enrol Ashley in another English class after school or in Weekend? I also do like this. Phonic... I think some parents in here learnt it, if you are not treasure for the certificate, you can also teach her at home. I also taught Trevor since he was 2 years old. He knew all single alphabet sound very well now. My maid is Philippino, she also teachs Trevor English everyday.

If you want to switch to St. Cat, why don't you consider CCKG? It is very good too.

我都好明白你當時的心情, touch wood, Trevor未試過加上我張係皮梳化.

我個工人係新的, 去年5月來的, Both Trevor同工人其實都好喜歡對方,我以前嗰個好惡, Trevor好怕佢的, 但現在嗰個好林, Trevor唔係好聽佢講, 但係當姐姐躲起來扮走了, 佢又哭. 佢好蝦我現在的工人. 自己唔啱仲成日賴姐姐tim.我每次知道當然醒佢一番啦. 真係唔知幾時先改到喇. :cry: 我都有同工人講如果係Trevor唔啱就一定要鬧, 唔可以讓佢這讓發展下去. Both my hb and I都唔容許小朋友對任何人無禮, 工人都係人, 一定唔可以咁樣嫁. :angryfire:遲d大個咗仲得了嘅.....一定刻人憎....

其實，我都曾有angellauwc的感覺，囡囡講英文的意慾是比之前讀國際班的時候低了一點，但是否很差，又不至於如此，只是在KV學習來說，第一語言始終是中文，英文變了第二語言。

但是否SC就會很好？我不敢肯定。

因為曾因KV沒有phonics學，所以為囡囡報了一些phonics班，奇怪地，都真有不少是來自SC的。我和朋友都很疑惑，SC不是有phonics嗎？為何仍要出街學？SC不是英文很好的嗎？但所見的小朋友，（可能也是這原因，所以才會在補習社出現），我們都不覺他們的英文對答特別出息。

有時，無論KV或SC，父母的角色，看來都是要做幫兒女補習的老師了。

The key to learning a language is practice. It is therefore important to expose the child to the kind of environment that makes him/her use the language.

There's no doubt that KV is emphasising Chinese over English. If we really wish our children to become a fluent English speaker with native tone, the only choice might be to let them attend international schools or other classes where teachers and students never speak Chinese in class.

Personally, I believe Chinese is a much more difficult language to learn than English. Even though we may speak Cantonese fluently (or at least competently for daily communication), we might still not be able to write well in Chinese. I actually appreciate and treasure KV's philosphy in setting a solid foundation of Chinese in the early years of our children.
