hi emily, the reasons why my sister-in-law chose esf were (and still are): 1. proximity to her home 2. her objective - not to spend a lot of her time with her kids on homework. whichever area she feels ESF is insufficient, she lets her kids have after school tutoring (mostly math and Chinese). 3. well-being and happiness of her kids 4. tuition (generally cheaper among the better known IS) 我又唔覺得我唔可以base on 我d外甥女講返佢地d情況. 1. 2. 我又唔係一定揀sis喎. in fact, 我會wait out esf個新中文curriculum, 睇定d先. |

elmonstoney, Of course no one will do assessment on all students, I won't object to your negative comments, but I see that you are not assessing the academic results objectively and it is very unfair to the ESF students who really did very well if compared with other IS students as they are not screened academically. You also did not quote from your first head experience, while parents of SIS and leehoma are quoting their first hand experience, which are more reliable. ESF is more relax in primary, but more rigorous in secondary, as they are developing all concepts in Maths in a way very different from local schools, local parents will not be satisfied with their progress. Anyway, you may not understand this well as your kid is so small. Really suggest you assess any school more objectively. SIS or CIS will definitely fit your needs better if you want high Chinese and Maths standard. If you want to fire more at ESF, you can definitely go on, better open a new topic for it or do it in ESF's topics. I think SIS parents are not interested in so much discussion of another school here. |

Leehoma001, I think you have finish the 'Indepth' research on GSIS and descided that you keep your son in QBS. This is a good decision and I strongly support you. This is not because of QBS is better than GSIS, but I have the same feeling as wskwok, especially when your son is having improvement and there is a 6 month probation policy in GSIS. You have no need to convince yourself that you have made a correct decision by making others to agree that ESF is the best school by stepping on others saying that they are not "real" international school or that they are not "elite" international school (sorry thankful, I haven't asked your permission to use your wording). Of course, you can freely express your view, but please don't just say xxx is better than yyy, zzz is not an elite or real international school without stating the reasons and real facts (may be this is more important) behind. This will not be helpful to the parents who are looking for school for their kids. Parents select a school must have lots of reasons behind not just the school is better, elite or real. I believe that ESF is the best school for your boy but it may not be others. I think you should keep Daydream's words: '在現實世界裡,有重要的工作等 |

Dear SIS parents, May I know when the school will send out the interview letters? I noticed that they still haven't banked the cheque for the application fee. Regards  |
ultravox | 2007-02-02 10:06 |
Hi I called the school and the admission's office said interview letters will be sent out in early Feb. The interview for PY1 will start after CHinese New Year. So we should get the letters soon. May I know how old your child is? Mine just turned 3 last December, so if she gets in, she will be the youngest in class. I hope she gets in as her brother is there too..... Michelle |

Hi ultravox, My daughter turned three at the end of September, so she's not much older than yours. SIS's cut-off date is end of the year, so there should not be the problem of 'big girl, small girl' as with local schools. I also hope my daughter could be admitted so her younger brother could get in more easily, too. Let's hope that our kids could become classmates. Cheers :-D |
