I think that you can buy any other brand name. But the school bag should be blue and avoid any pattern on it. As I told you before, a small cartoon is acceptable. I get these information from CKY.
Hope this can help.

Dear Curry123,

If school bag with pattern is not recommended, does it mean that 'Seven' should not be considered? Do you know any parents are requested to buy new school bags if the school bags have pattern.

Hi Kyliema2006,
I don't understand what does 'Seven' mean ?
Last week, I went to the P.1 parents' meetiing.
I saw a sample schoolbag on the display desk and
I asked the senior teacher if it was necessary to
buy that one. She told me that they accepted
all schoolbags in blue . However, those with big
cartoons like ' Thomas' ' 'Hello Kitty' should be
avoided.

Dear Curry123,

'Seven' is the branding of school bag, it looks good and is blue color, but have some pattern over it. I also ask CKY administration office, they told me that it's better in entire blue, so that I'm afraid that the school will ask me to buy a new school bag.

Besides of school fee, parents have to pay a lot on books. As you know, students who study IB are requested to write assignments, and need to do a lot of research. Some parents on BK complained that they have to buy a lot of reference books that is requested by their sons. It's really a burden to me, especially I got two children. Anyway, an investment on academy!

Hi, kyliema2006 and father_ho,

kindly help on some reference, do you think CKY has preference on which kind of kindergarten graduates for their students' enrollment?

thanks.

Dear monkeymei,

As I am not the "inside horse" of the school, I never know exactly. What I feel is in the past they didn't set any perference on kindergarten, now since there's far more applicants, they adopt marks scoring in the first round that may have difference. I think as long as your child study in activity teaching approach with bilingual environment, it's enough. They know which school adopting which method.

Hope it helps,

My son will enrol CKY this September, after the process of interviews, I've a gut feeling that CKY will not choose kindergartens, but on parents and children. They are concerned on how much time do the children and parents spend on reading, because CKY is emphasis on 'learn to read, and read to learn'. The children are assessed through an array of games, and the parents will be asked the daily habbits of their sons. Take my son as an example, he likes reading, and quite smart (to my standard), but not out-spoken. Under the current rules of games of direct subsidized schools, he does not not have any advantages. However, CKY will take a wider perspectives on the evaluation of the children, besides of his knowledge, intelligent as well as his habbits, and the devotion of their parents.

So, it is not the matter of which school he/she studies, but the personality of your son/daughter and your devotion to them.

Hi, kyliema2006 and father_ho,

thanks so much for your ideas and advises. PERFECT, I planned to put my girl to billingual kindergartens with activity-based approach. And, also, I'll spend more time on reading with her. This is not only because of CKY, this is inspired by one of my friends whom I met last night. He already immigrated to Canada and just came back for a biz trip, his boy is 14 yrs old and just graduated from Grade 8 in Canada with several academic awards. As I heard from my friend, he also acquirs good softskills like inter-personal skills and definitely being initiate and passionate to those tasks he commited.

My friends shared the possible reasons might be due to his wife spent a lot of time on reading and chatting with his son since his childhood, this inspired him a lot and made this boy aquired those softskills. A good inspiration to me also, but unfortunately I'm a working mum but his wife was no need to work since gave birth la,...anyway, I'll try my best and in fact, I enjoyed in playing with my baby.

Such a long sharing again.

chat to you all later, take care.

My son was from Kentville, therefore I don't think CKY is choosing child by active school for their preference.

My son's report card in K2 was not PREFECT, mostly B. But I showed the school a lot of activities certificate (Which mean I let my son to attend a lot of different activities). I think that's the reason I can have the second interview.

In the second interview. You need to show to the Headmaster that your child LOVE TO READ and can tell the Headmaster a story that he or she love the most.

It was my own opinion. Hope it might help.
