yyyy, o i c!! i am sooo concerned about the high standard both in English n' Mandarin in SIS. i know a Beijing lady, who tutors some SIS students' mandarin, she said her students found mandarin is soooo difficult. :-( Besides, SIS english textbooks are totally different from the ones being commonly used in HK. i'm afraid i don't know how to help my bb in his studies. i'm afraid my bb will finally hv to study days and nights and no more leisure time. is it common for SIS students to hv tutors?:-? Thanks |

XOGOGO, Sorry that I cannot tell as I don't know much. I know some studetns go for tuition which I not really understand why. My girl doesn't go for any. I belief it's the school's responsibility to make the students to understand the school materials and parents to keep them reading extra books. As Hong Kong people, I think Mandarin is not that difficult but English. Thanks yyyy. I have the same belief too! I believe it is the teachers' responsibilities to help the students to understand and do the homework but not the parents. :-D :-D So do u mean your children can do things other than school work after school? How about the exams? Are they required pure memorization? Are there a lot of projects? Sorry for asking so many questions. Thanks again. XOGOGO |

Hi yyyy, I'm sure that when your daughters look back, they would feel the warmth for having such an understanding and caring mother. I must say that your elder daughter is pretty disciplined. She sure sets a good example for her little sister. For myself, I feel that it's important for my children to become interested in learning and seeking for knowledge. I am not concerned about grades. If their academic attainment is high, that would be a bonus. Otherwise, I'm happy with average results, as long as they enjoy school life and fulfill their responsibility as a good student. I hope they grow up happily and understand the blessings that they have. See you in August. Eva, Did you go to the PY open house? Anything to share. Cheers Leisurefan :-D :-D |
