Dear all, A mum highly recommends my son to go to Shaukiwan 慈幼 as the school is teaching in small class (15 to 20 students in a class) and the teachers are very very caring. The mum says that my child can be accepted by the school (my child's problems are speech delay for 6 months and not very attentive; no discipline & emotion problems at school) as some children there are not really very good. The school is very open to parents' opinion and 萬大事有商量. The students there are very 薯仔-- well disciplined. However, the homework is very demanding (the quantity is not too much, but the quality is high). Although I like the school culture and the 辦學團體---慈幼會(very good reputation in teachers' circle) very much, I am very afraid that it may not be suitable to my child. Very 十五十六. Can anyone give me any enlightenment??? Thanks a lot. |

Dear mrsphcheung What you need to consider is: can your son handle the homework? If not, it will be a painful experience every night. How about the academic level of the school? Is it 摧谷? Will it teach the subjects half-year or one-year earlier than other schools? The so-called band 1 schools should not be the first choice for our kids, provided that you can find a less 摧谷 school with similar caring teachers. |

Dear 思佳媽咪, Up till now, I really don't know whether my son can handle the homework or not (I don't know his real potential). So far, he can finish all his assignment very quickly. I must be the one to teach him when he goes to P.1. The books are similar to Causeway Bay St. Paul Convent, but the quality of homework is less demanding. This school is not the first choice among mums in Shaukiwan as its affiliated secondary school is using Chinese as teaching medium. The academic standard is not really as high as 基灣. There are two tests and two exams every year (the same as most aided schools). The school doesn't discriminate students with bad academic performance which is the main point I admire. HAS ANYONE HERE EVER HEARD ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE OF LESS ABLE STUDENTS THERE? |

Dear anna_gigi, How old is your child now? My child will go to P.1 next year and my nightmare begins. |

Dear anna_gigi, I see. Do you choose 梁李秀娛? I have ever talked to the principal. He is very sincere and open. BTW, Heep X will have a visit to this school. I am very 15 & 16.... |

mrs cheung, I have met your son for several time. I guess he can handle more difficult curriculum in primary school. |

Dear ALAL, Quote: ALAL 寫道: I guess he can handle more difficult curriculum in primary school. Your comment on my monkey boy makes me fly in the sky. He has so many problems that you can't observe e.g. he is not paying attention in the lesson. He stronly needs strict rules and supervision. Right now, I am very very anxious about his IQ.... If he is normal, there may be more choices of schools. Otherwise, there will be no choice at all!   |
